Since being diagnosed with cancer at the age of twenty-five,
I have had to rebuild my life more than once.
Surviving illness.
Starting over in New York.
Returning to Japan and facing the realities of caregiving.
Looking back, each chapter of my life has shaped my understanding of Quality of Life.
Because the quality of life is never determined by a single event.
It is shaped by the choices we make.
The relationships we nurture.
The places we call home.
And the small moments that give meaning to our days.
For that reason, this blog explores Quality of Life through seven different perspectives.

Caregiving is rarely as simple as people imagine.
It is filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions, quiet sacrifices, and unexpected moments of grace.
Here, I share the realities of supporting loved ones while learning to care for myself as well.

Sometimes the most meaningful journeys are the shortest ones.
These day trips remind me that wonder can often be found close to home.
6 | Mon-chan Journal

Living with a cat has taught me to appreciate life’s simplest pleasures.

7 | Healing Walks & Tasty Moments
Finding Happiness in Everyday Life
A peaceful walk.
A seasonal view.
A memorable meal.
These small moments often hold the greatest power to enrich our lives.
At first glance, these seven categories may seem unrelated.
But to me, they are all connected.
Illness.
New York.
Caregiving.
Art.
Travel.
Life with a cat.
The simple pleasure of an afternoon walk.
Each of them leads back to the same question:
How do we protect and nurture the quality of our lives?
My life has not unfolded exactly as I once imagined.
It has been shaped by unexpected detours, difficult choices, and new beginnings.
Yet each experience has taught me something valuable about what it means to live well.
The stories that follow are not about perfection.
They are about resilience.
About rebuilding.
About finding meaning in both extraordinary and ordinary moments.
This blog is a record of that journey.
And if my experiences or reflections can help you rediscover your own story,
there would be nothing that makes me happier.
Please take your time, and walk this path with me.
